Choose how you file
File under your own EFIN
You are the Electronic Return Originator for your own firm. AscenTax Pro is the software: intake, document capture, encrypted SSN vault, review, e-signature and transmission. Your PTIN and EFIN appear on the return, your engagement letter governs the client relationship, and you keep the full preparation fee you charge.
- Your EFIN, your ERO responsibility, your client list.
- PTIN and EFIN verified once by an administrator before your account opens.
- You set and collect your own client fees; we bill you only the platform fee.
- No IRC §7216 disclosure to Ascendum is required — you are the return preparer.
File under Ascendum's EFIN
Ascendum Corporate Advisory LLC acts as the ERO and transmits the return under its EFIN. You prepare and sign as the paid preparer using your own PTIN. This suits preparers who hold a PTIN but have not yet obtained an EFIN, or who prefer not to run their own e-file operation.
- Valid PTIN required; EFIN not required.
- You must sign the ERO & §7216 Agreement before your first transmission.
- Ascendum performs a quality review before transmission and may decline any return.
- Client consent under IRC §7216 is collected in the portal for every affected return.
Per-return billing
| Return | Your own EFIN | Ascendum’s EFIN |
|---|---|---|
| Form 1040 (individual) | $20 | $35 |
| Form 1065 (partnership) | $40 | $60 |
| Form 1120-S (S corporation) | $40 | $60 |
| Form 1120 / 1120-F (corporation) | $50 | $75 |
- Billed per accepted return. Rejected submissions that are corrected and re-transmitted are not charged twice.
- No seat licence, no minimum volume and no annual contract — you pay only for what you file.
- Invoices are issued on the first business day of each month for the prior month's accepted returns.
- Amended returns (1040-X and business amendments) are billed at the same per-return rate.
How onboarding works
- Step 1
Apply
Tell us who you are, your credentials and your PTIN. Choose whether you will file under your own EFIN or under Ascendum's.
- Step 2
Verification
An administrator checks your PTIN — and your EFIN where you file under your own — against IRS records. Nothing is approved automatically.
- Step 3
Sign the agreements
Preparers filing under Ascendum's EFIN sign the ERO & IRC §7216 Agreement before the first transmission.
- Step 4
Start filing
You get a secure set-up link, enrol multi-factor authentication, add clients, and work returns through intake, review, e-signature and transmission.
Documents for preparers
ERO & IRC §7216 Agreement
The terms that apply when you transmit under Ascendum’s EFIN, including consent, confidentiality and quality-review obligations.
